Abigail Breslin, Yasmin Kassim and Booboo Stewart to star in Pipe Cleaner Boy

Abigail Breslin, Yasmin Kassim and Booboo Stewart will star in Pipe Cleaner Boy.

The trio have signed up for writer and director Anna Rose Moore’s new road trip comedy, which will star Little Miss Sunshine actress Abigail as Rachel, with You star Kassim as her best friend Leeze.

According to Deadline the movie follows Rachel “whose carefully ordered life implodes after she catches her fiancé cheating and loses her job. Convinced it’s karmic payback, she sets off on a cross-country road trip with her free-spirited best friend, Leeza, to track down a boy from her past and make amends”.

Filming for Pipe Cleaner Boy will begin in October in Oklahoma City.

Pipe Cleaner Boy will be Anna Rose Moore’s feature directorial debut, after she recently wrote comedy feature, Adulting, for BuzzFeed Studios, starring Leighton Meester, Tyler Posey and Sherry Cola.

Producer Brynn Lucas said: “There is a specific sweet spot for a film like Pipe Cleaner Boy. A cast that is trusted and loved by audiences, a female-led team pushing the envelope for fresh voices in both directing and producing, and a script that deeply resonates with Gen Z. Anna Rose’s script is funny, irreverent, and captures what it feels like to be a young woman suddenly unsure if she’s been climbing the right ladder.”

Lucas will produce alongside Charles Papert and Mark Myers of Citizen Skull along with Cris Cordero’s Paravox.

Meanwhile, although Breslin received a Best Supporting Actress Oscar nomination at age 10 for her role in the 2006 film Little Miss Sunshine, Hollywood has not always been kind to her and she revealed in 2024 that she was deemed “hysterical” for making complaints about a male co-star in recent years.

She wrote on Tumblr in 2024: “In my recent career, I’ve brought forward concerns about a male colleague and was deemed ‘hysterical’. I was told my fears were figments of my imagination. Now, as I’m seeing this pattern pop up more, I see this is the norm.

“[I made] a confidential complaint against a coworker for unprofessional [actions].

“I had the silly and naive impression they would believe me. Instead of being believed and protected, a suit was filed against me for having the audacity to speak up.

“[I] was made to seem like someone who just goes after men, rather than being seen as someone who has been dealing as a professional in this world, since I was a child, standing up for herself…This was after I had taken all of the recommended, reasonable and appropriate measures of reporting confidentially to my union. The experience left me with a lot of questions, of the professionals in my industry, of the public, and of men.”
